Position Overview
Al-Kawthar is seeking a motivated and mission-driven Summer Program Intern to join our team in Valley Stream, NY. This paid internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising activities, donor engagement, and outreach efforts while supporting Al-Kawthar’s expanding humanitarian programs. The Program Intern will report directly to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with the program and outreach teams to support key initiatives and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with program setup and management, including event planning, logistics, and coordination.
Create engaging content for Al-Kawthar’s website and manage updates across social media platforms.
Support donor engagement efforts through email communications, database management, and stewardship activities.
Conduct data analysis on fundraising campaigns and donor trends to help optimize outreach strategies.
Perform outreach to community organizations and masjids to schedule fundraising appeals and build partnerships.
Provide administrative support to maintain program records and generate reports.
Contribute to special projects and help develop marketing materials and presentations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong organizational, logistical, and project management skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work independently.
Passion for humanitarian causes and a commitment to making a positive impact.
A collaborative spirit, adaptability, and a proactive attitude.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) is a plus.
Prior experience with nonprofit organizations, donor relations, or fundraising is highly desirable.

Candidates must be available to work in-person at Al-Kawthar’s Valley Stream office. Undergraduate students, recent graduates, and graduate students are welcome to apply.
